Start with YOU! Self care for mind and body.

Join us August 10th in Sacramento for our Cancer Wellness Workshop.

This special daylong workshop in Sacramento is for patients, survivors and caregivers dealing with the stress of cancer. The day will include a sampling of Wellness Within’s programming – qigong, guided imagery, and Drumming & Dancing Freedom – helping you to relax, reflect, and be in community with people with shared experiences. You will also learn/improve wellness practices you can practice in your daily life.

Qigong is both a set of practices and a way of being, dedicated to cultivation of life force and enhancement of health and vitality on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.  Activities offered in this class will be drawn from five different “baskets”: movement, breath, sound, self-massage, and meditation.

Regaining Calm through Changing your Focus:

Utilizing self-hypnosis techniques and guided imagery, this class will reacquaint you with your own natural ability to reconnect your mind and body to begin mental and physical change through Positive Expectations. The goals include letting go of negative self-talk and judgement, establishing your ability to access feelings of calm in stressful situations and managing physical discomfort.

Drumming & Dancing Freedom:

Dancing Freedom is an elemental journey through a wave of music, connecting our rhythms with the rhythms of nature with intention to inspire, reduce stress, relax, invigorate – whatever the participants want to experience by discovering their dance from the inside out. Dancing will be followed by HealthRhythms Drumming to integrate, relax, invigorate – whatever your body needs after the freedom of movement! No experience necessary, “you can’t do it wrong.”

Please bring your own lunch and water. Wear comfortable clothing. All materials needed to participate in class activities will be supplied. Parking will be available in the CLARA lot (accessible from O street) and 6-hour street parking can be found around the building.
